Land Acknowledgement (Waterloo, Ontario & Athens, Ohio):

Our production of She Kills Monsters 1s takes place on the traditional territory of the Neutral, Anishinaabeg, and Haudenosaunee peoples. The Theatre of the Arts is situated on the colonized land of the Haldimand Tract, six miles on each side of the Grand River. The characters in She Kills Monsters live on the land currently known as Ohio, the traditional territory of the Adena, Hopewell, Osage, and Shawnee. We recognize that we are telling stories on land upon which countless stories of Indigenous joy, strength, and pain have been told and performed. We have a duty as settlers and guests upon these lands to remember and address the acts of violence, colonization, and theft that have been committed, both past and present, against Indigenous peoples. We encourage those who attend our production to further their learning and support O:se Kenhionhata:tie, a group of TwoSpirit IndigiQueer folx working and gathering on this land.
